#STALKERISM
That's the new trending topic! As if Myspace and Facebook weren't enough, Twitter comes along and takes the cake. With the styling fun of one and the status updating of the other, Twitter has successfully combined the two and taken it to the next level.
So is it just me or do you also feel a little stalkerish as you find yourself "following" people? And I wonder how many stalkers, oh I mean followers, just pop up at places because they saw that you tweeted that you were there! I'm surprised that there hasn't been any murders behind it like the 'Craigslist Killer". I guess stalkers are slacking these days or celebrities just aren't worth it anymore! But before I get out of here make sure you follow your girl @sincerelyme2012! (lol) See you there my Tweeps!
~Sincerely, Me
I feel like all these social sites are a way for the gov. to track ppl, just being honest!
ReplyDeleteyou are not alone!
ReplyDeleteAll these 'social' networks are just media for people to call attention to themselves. Let's be honest, some people secretly WANT to be stalked. They probably relish in the idea that someone takes an interest in them. I know I can't be the only one who wonders about people's reactions to my statuses or creates a vague status on purpose to cause havoc or writes an update about a mundane task because I WANT people to know that I do normal things. Or what if I come up with some clever phrase or joke that I can't bare to keep to myself? I must share my brilliance!
ReplyDeleteIt is a way of controlling people's perception of you (unless you tweet while under the influence.) It also gives you a voice beyond just physical contact, so you are able to defend yourself and your actions on a public forum. However, most of the time, we end up contradicting ourselves more than anything and opening up ourselves to even more attacks.
In short, FB and Twitter are filled with attention-starved egomaniacs like myself. And stalkers are not intrigued by us. They are more likely to go after people who go to great lengths to remain private and exclusive (Jay-Z and Beyonce), because there is still some mystery; some thing that the person is not willingly offering up. That's where the rush comes in; I should know.
that's an interesting way to look at it.
