IN THE SPOTLITE: LUKE JAMES

LUKE JAMES

Well, well, well I must say Luke James "I Want You" in my collection of great music. This man can sang, if you don't know you better ask somebody.   Representing New Orleans, this new found success has been a long time coming for Luke.  After a trio attempt didn't pan out, he landed the opportunity to sing backup for Tyrese, which led to a record deal for the duo 'Luke and Q'. But once again, that path was cut short. Yet, that didn't discourage him. He went on to assist in writing songs for artists such as Justin Beiber, Brittany Spears, Keri Hilson, and  Brandy.  Recently, he also appeared in Beyonce's video for "Run The World (Girls)". Now, the doors have opened again for him and this time he is going at it solo, which ultimately might be just what he needed.

Luke James exudes sincerity, not only in his music but in his personality as well.  He doesn't want to just simply make songs that sell, he wants to make music that we can FEEL.  Inspired by old school music, including Donnie Hathaway, he has taken a classic remedy and sweetened it up with a new school vibe.  On his debut track titled, "I Want You", he expresses his love for a woman with a sequence of hills and valleys. Luke starts off by reeling us in slowly and then lays his passionately powerful vocals on us.  From there he continues this up and down cycle. But there is one particular moment, one particular line, when I just knew that I wanted this song to be played at my wedding. He says, "I've waited all my life, for someone like you, someone like you. And nobody, nobody, nobody else will do, because I want you baby!" I just love the way that he takes his time and caresses each word, it's magically seductive. He has perfected his craft very well. Another amazing track is "Hurt Me", with its soothingly alluring tempo. Can you say goosebumps?! I have these two songs on repeat until it hurts me baby. Luke James is a force, go experience him. You're welcome!

~Sincerely, Me

If I stand at the toilet to piss, Does that make me a man? If I sit, does it make me less than? If I dye my hair blonde, color my eyes blue, and rob my skin of its natural brown pigmentation Will that make me Caucasian? If I don't, am I then African? If I yell "Hallelujah!" while giving up half of my check, stomach still queasy from the club the night before, Will 'He' save me? If I, being unbaptized, die while saving another's life, Is it just 'to Hell' with me? If my skin is burned from a fire and barely hanging on  for dear life, Does that make me ugly? If not, then why doesn't anyone see me? Oh they do stare, but they don't SEE me. If my body is s...

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus

Do you ever find yourself frustrated when trying to communicate with the opposite sex? At times it can seem as if we speak two different languages or as if we aren't even the same species. How are we supposed to be together if we can't even talk to and understand one another? Apparently, we are expected to at some point figure it all out, but how can we when from the time we are kids we learn to communicate differently?  Women are more focused on connections and for men all talk and little action just doesn't make sense. This ultimately leads to a lot of frustration, arguments, insecurities, and unhappiness. Has this happened to you? Is that how you landed here on this site? Or perhaps you've read books and articles explaining how the genders brains are wired differently, offering tips on how to apply the information. But if you're like me, this can still leave you unsatisfied because what if we don't want to learn to communicate differently? Or wh...
