Prologue

A big beautiful catastrophe, that’s what they are headed toward. Still some explosions are destined and there isn’t anything that can stand in the way.  Nova had spent weeks holding back.  Today, however, the pressure has become too intense for her to contain.  She’d never met anyone whose energy was so strong that it went on to seduce her even when he isn’t around.  Today would mark the beginning of something so sudden, so intense, so undeniable and never expected.

The moment he touches her, she knows there’s no turning back.  His hand slithers around her body, hypnotizing her; between her thighs, up her torso, landing with a firm grip on her neck.  He pulls her in.  She pulls away.  He quickly pulls her back in, their lips connecting as they collide.

Chapter 1

(3 month earlier)

Romantic love, who ever invented such a concept? It never lasts.  At least that has been Nova’s experience in love.  She and Christion have been exclusive now for three years.  Things started out a little rocky because he wasn’t even out of his previous relationship when he and Nova first started fooling around.  He had told her that he was single the day that they met online, but she soon found out otherwise when she stumbled upon another account of his.  To her surprise, he was just weeks away from being a married man.  Ultimately he walked away from that relationship choosing to focus on theirs instead. From there their relationship began to grow.  He was so thoughtful and romantic, from planning vacations to leaving sweet messages on her calendar in her phone.  They both were very supportive of each other’s passions.  He was a paralegal studying law and she was a freelance photographer fresh out of grad school, with dreams of one day showcasing her work in a gallery and travelling the world.

For Nova, it was hard to believe that that was just three short years ago.  So much had changed, so suddenly.  Things started to decline after that first year; that first argument to be exact.  They were able to work things out but not without something being left behind.  Soon the original dream of their wonderful life together, became harder and harder for Nova to reach.  It seemed to her, that guys always sold girls dreams; dreams of a fairytale wedding, cute little perfect babies, and an eternity of a perfect undying love; beautiful, beautiful love.  Yet, for some reason it never managed to come into being.  Either they ended up cheating, lying, gambling away the bill money, being abusive, or the chemistry would just fizzle out.  First the random sweet gestures stop, then the arguments increase.  She cries, yelling that he no longer treats her special, and he says that he doesn’t treat her special anymore because she’s always upset.  She feels that he isn’t interested in her anymore, while he feels that he can no longer do anything right.  Thus begins the beginning of their demise.  They both start to think of what life may be like without the other.  He sees himself moving on to the next.  She sees him running after her once she’s moved on.  Slowly their thoughts turn into fantasies, as the two who once were inseparable, silently drift apart.

Nova leans against the wall staring out the window.  She knows it’s about time for Christion to be getting home from work.  After parking, he and his good friend Mason get out the car rushing inside.  He barely gets out a hello to Nova before he’s turning on his Playstation for a game of 2k and trash talking with Mason.  Nova heads to the kitchen to finish cooking dinner as they sit on the couch.  The guys trash talk each other as Nova looks on wondering what happened to the days that he rushed home to hold her in his arms.  After getting fed up with the disappointment, she heads back to the living room interrupting their tense game.

“Christion, why don’t you ever plan any dates for us anymore? I’m tired of you only wanting to Netflix and chill.”

“Nova please don’t start.  Can’t you see that I’m busy right now?”

“Do you even remember when we were watching a movie and I said that I would love for you to surprise me with a limo that leads to a romantic adventure?”

He responds nonchalantly, “Yeah.”

Nova gestures to him as if to ask what happened, shrugging her shoulders with her arms out.  To which he simply shakes his head continuing to put his complete focus into the game.

Mason breaks his concentration looking over to Nova, “I’ll definitely do that if I ever get the chance.  For someone who deserves it, not these thots that I be dealing with.”

“Yes!” Christion shouts as he makes the winning basket. “Pay me my money!”

Mason pulls out a wad of cash peeling off a twenty reluctantly handing it over to Christion.  After Mason leaves Christion hops into the shower, Nova trailing close behind.

Chapter 2

As the days, weeks, and months roll by Nova feels her emotions struggling to tread through her unfulfilling day to day routine.  Each day is the same; another 24 hours riddled with regret.  It was becoming harder and harder to keep herself afloat.  Was this all that love had to offer, all that life had to offer?  At twenty five she feels far too young to be having a mid life crisis.  Was she just bored, feeling neglected?  She beats up on herself for ever thinking that he would be a changed man for her.  If he ran away from marrying his ex Athena, what made her think that she was so special to make him step it up for her?  Then there’s the resentment.  She’d given up so much leaving her life in Chicago to start a new one with him in New York.  What had he even done to deserve such a privilege?  Here she was performing wifely duties. Cleaning, cooking, and catering to an ungrateful little boy who’d rather play games than plan a future together, figuratively and literally.

Yet she refuses to lose all hope that one day the chemistry would reignite, the fun and excitement would return, and he’d finally realize what he was slowly losing before it was too late.  Just how they would reach that place again was beside Nova.  Her brain hurt from trying to figure it all out.  She really didn’t look forward to having to start all over, but she feared that if she stayed she’d end up drowning in her own lonely tears.  Christion needed to get it together and quickly or she would walk away for good this time.  Five, four, three, two, one; his time was up.

Chapter 3

Photography is Nova’s first love.  When life gets too overwhelming, she often throws herself fully into her artistry.  Business was picking up at the new portrait studio that she works at, since she began heavily advertising on social media.  Along with taking beautiful family portraits at the studio, she also is available to do events such as weddings, parties, christenings, and more outside of it.

Today she got off a little early arriving home around 3pm.  Stopping to check her mailbox, she notices a shiny black limo pull up as her Uber drives off.  The driver quickly gets out opening the door for Nova.

She looks around perplexed, “What’s going on?”

The driver responds, “I’m simply the genie here to lead you to your destiny.  What are you waiting for?”

A random escape from the usual does sound exciting, but what was the occasion she wonders.  Had she forgotten the significance of this date?  It isn’t Valentine’s Day, her birthday, their anniversary, or any other special day for that matter.

“Why not?”  She throws caution to the wind escaping the mundane of a boring Tuesday afternoon at home, alone.  Quickly stuffing the mail back into the mailbox, Nova strolls over to the limo climbing inside happily.   After a short 20 minute ride they arrive at a big fancy hotel she’d never seen before.

The driver opens her door giving her instructions, “Tell the lady at the desk your name and she’ll show you to your room.”

“Thank you.” How intriguing, she thinks.

When she walks into the large deluxe suite, she notices her favorite white Calla Lily flowers everywhere, as well as a fancy red gown laid across the California king sized bed.  The Jacuzzi is filled to the brim with fake scented rose petals floating on top.  On the edge is a stemless champagne glass of white wine.

“Hello? Christion, what’s going on?”  She smiles from ear to ear as she checks for him in the bathroom, but it’s empty.  She finds a handwritten note on one of the bed pillow.  The cologne on the note finds its way to her nose; a scent so enticing and vaguely familiar.  The note reads, Get dressed then meet me on the rooftop. Nova loves this whole experience.  Something that she’s never done before but has always dreamed of. Allure fills the air as Nova soaks in the Jacuzzi tub and even moreso when she realizes that there is a dress and high heels but no bra or panties.

The elevator ride takes forever as she rises slowly.  On the rooftop there’s a beautiful restaurant.  She lets the hostess know her name then follows behind her through the restaurant toward a distant corner near the edge of the building.  As they get closer it’s only then that the pieces start to fall into place.  She’d described this before, a while ago, and spent many arguments complaining about not getting it, feeling unheard.  Someone was listening very closely, but it wasn’t Christion.  She reaches the table as Mason stands pulling out a chair for her.

“It’s you.” She says nervously.

“Are you surprised?” He asks.

“Of course.”

“I wanted to show you that I pay attention and that I keep my word.  Do you remember what I said I would do?”

She scrunches her forehead thinking for a minute, then responds, “That you’d do this one day for someone who deserves it.”

“I meant you Nova.” He stares intensely into her eyes.

She’s flattered but uncomfortable due to the circumstances, "I don’t know what to say.”

“No need to say anything, your eyes say it all.”

She thanks him for the nice gesture but declines dinner, feeling that it is inappropriate.  Changing back into her clothes, she has Mason call the limo driver to quickly bring her back home before Christion makes it in from work and doesn’t find her there patiently waiting for him.

Chapter 4

Rapunzel.  That’s who Nova feels like as she longs to be rescued from the prison of her lonely life.  She can’t bring herself to walk away from Christion even though she is very unhappy in the relationship these past few months.  Although she loves him, she strongly desires to be desired and he just seems to lack passion for her.  She finds herself thinking about Mason.  Something about the vibe they had, that day on the rooftop, felt magnetic.  It sparks something inside of Nova that she can’t shake off.  A natural connection had been lit between them that couldn’t be explained.  It was so wrong, yet felt so right.  She tries to bury the yearning, denying it, but deep down inside she feels her soul wading in her ocean of desire for him.

Now when Christion comes in from work, she no longer looks to be greeted by him.  Instead she stares at the television as her mind races.  She doesn’t like whatever is going on with her but she doesn’t hate it either.  It gave her energy.  She develops a new jogging routine every evening just before dusk.  On the seldom nights that Christion does decide to climb on top of Nova, she lets her mind drift away into areas that she knows should be forbidden.  Not only does her mind and spirit begin to crave Mason, but her body as well.

Chapter 5

Randomly Nova gets a text from an unknown number one day, while Christion is out of town.  It reads, Do you miss me?  She responds asking who they are, suggesting that they may have the wrong number.  The person calls her and she decides to answer,

            “Hello?”

She hears Mason’s deep voice on the other end.  “You didn’t answer my question.”

“How did you get my number?”

“I called my phone from your phone one day when you guys were arguing in the back.  So you’re not happy to hear from me?”

Nova shakes her head in disbelief, but continues to entertain the conversation, “Mason what are you doing? How do I know that this isn’t a set up?”

“I knew you’d be worried about that. Nova, I’d never do something like that to you. I put that on my life.”

“You don’t understand, I fall too easily.” She tries to convince him.

“We’re just having fun though. I won’t let you fall.  Trust me.  I want all of you, except for your heart.” The space between them shrinks.

Nova breaks the thick silence, “Why do you want to do this to me?”  She halfheartedly pleads for mercy.

“Believe me, I won’t do anything to you that you don’t want me to.  But let me know and I’ll do whatever you want me to do to you.” Nova exhales into the phone, as minutes pass by.

The silence speaks volumes, before Mason breaks it continuing, “I’m on my way.”

The line drops.  A heavy sigh slips between Nova’s wet lips as she bites her bottom lip; too late to turn back now.

Chapter 6

The door is unlocked when Mason arrives.  He peels off layers of clothing as he searches for Nova.  He comes out of his boots as he heads down the hallway leading to the bedroom.  When he gets there she’s nowhere to be found, so he pulls off his shirt tossing it onto the bed.  He backtracks to the bathroom but she isn’t there either; off come his socks.  One thing he wasn’t was a quitter.  He pauses, picking up Nova’s scent, slowly heading back to the bedroom.  At the same time he unbuckles his belt, quietly approaching the walk in closet.  He steps out of the rest of his layers as he twists the doorknob.  Bingo.  He finds Nova in the darkness, closing the door behind him.  She had tried to run, tried to hide but there’s something different about Mason.  He’s gifted with a sixth sense about these kinds of things.

Backing her up against the wall, he lowers to his knees pulling her black lace panties down with him.  Her toes land in his mouth as she steps out.  His tongue glides up her left thigh disappearing into her; kissing, licking, sucking, and eating.  Nova lifts her legs onto his shoulders as he stands up, pressing her warm back against the cold, hard wall.  She shakes her head. What was she doing?  She shouldn’t be doing this, she thinks, but her body and mind can’t seem to get on the same page.  Round and round his tongue goes, making her arch her back, eyes rolling into her head.  Then he smoothly moves his hands from her firm thighs to her soft waist as he slides her down and onto his thick fully aroused cock.  It isn’t long before his mouth finds her neck, ear, lips; thrusting harder, longer, faster.  Nova gives in wholly, completely letting go.

He whispers into her ear, “I need you.”

Her body convulses as she screams in pure ecstasy.

Chapter 7

Things were becoming more peaceful between Nova and Christion.  They hadn’t had an argument in over a month, ever since Mason made a move on her.  Christion could actually enjoy playing Call of Duty for hours now without Nova complaining.  Instead she just watches him play from the opposite end of the couch as she texts back and forth with Mason, trying not to let a suspicious smile escape.  After a couple of hours she decides to run a warm bubble bath.  She lights scented candles, turning off the lights.  Nova slides down into the tub and relaxes closing her eyes as Keke Wyatt’s song Jodeci plays on repeat through her Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom.  What was Mason doing to her? She thought that she was going to regret things immediately after their hookup in her closet, but surprisingly her mind was too consumed with all of the sexual things Mason promised to do to her.  She couldn’t get it or him off of her mind.  She could feel his strong hand caressing her neck, his soft lips on her thighs, and his tongue in places she’s never seen. The candlelight flickers in the darkness.  Nova doesn’t realize she’s breathing heavily until she feels her nipples harden from the coolness of her own breath.

She opens her eyes when her phone suddenly rings, “Hello?”

“Miss me?” It’s Mason’s voice on the other end, just who she hoped it would be.

“Not at all.”  She smirks.

“I could come over right now.  I hear the music playing, you getting it ready for me?”

Her mind says no, but her body says yes.  If she wasn’t careful she might get too attached. “No, he’s home.  Are you crazy?”  She whispers under the music.

“We can still do this right now.  Hang up and call me back on video chat.”  She quickly does a video call and the sneaky excitement turns her on.  As they both cum together, she loses her grip on the phone dropping it onto her chest just above the water.

“Nova, are you ok?”  Mason asks with concern in his tone.

“Yes, I almost dropped my phone into the water.”  She laughs at her clumsiness.

“Don’t go electrocuting my pussy, unless that turns you on, then go for it.”  He jokes.

“Be quiet.”

Christion calls from outside the locked bathroom door, “Nova?”

“Yes?”  She quickly hangs up the phone placing it on the floor.

“Are you almost done?  I have to pee.”

She hurries washing her body then heads out with the music still playing loudly.

“Do you know that you’ve been in there for an hour?” Christion stares at her puzzled.

She simply smiles walking into the bedroom, phone by her side.

Chapter 8

Nova is cursed with a little thing called a conscience, and lately more like a guilty conscience.  After a steamy two months of hooking up with Mason a few times, Nova starts to feel really bad about betraying Christion.  However, attempting to push Mason away is like trying to move a mountain.

“There’s nothing special about me.  You know plenty of other women.  I don’t understand why you won’t focus on pursuing them instead.”  Nova insists.

Mason always speaks confidently, “I want you.”  He shrugs his shoulders.  For him, it’s that simple.

She turns from the window and faces Mason, “You’re crazy.  You’re not worried about Christion finding out?  You guys have been friends since forever.”

“If I don’t talk and you don’t talk, how will he know?”

“These things always come to light eventually.”  She tries to convince Mason.

“Really I’m actually helping both of you work out your problems.  He has other interests and you should as well.  Give him some space and I’m sure he’ll come back around.”

Interestingly enough, he was right.  He did indirectly bring Nova and Christion closer together.  They could make it through a whole conversation now without going at each other’s throats.  They were having more sex and she was smiling more, shining from the inside out.

Nova zips and fastens her jeans.  “You’re going to follow me back right?  I’m not comfortable walking out here alone at night.”

“Of course.  I’d never let anything happen to you.  I got you.”

Nova fixes her clothes and rinses her mouth out with Mason’s bottle of mouthwash.  She grabs a small bottle of perfume from the glove compartment.  Spraying it on her, she smiles dreamingly at Mason as he licks her juices off of his lips and blows her a kiss.  She leans into the car as he sticks his tongue deep into her mouth, which he loved to do. As the sloppy kiss comes to an end she gently bites on his bottom lip.  As she backs up out of his car Mason squeezes his hand between her thighs saying, “It’s mine.”

Nova smiles closing the door behind her.  He trails behind her as she walks a couple of blocks back to her apartment.  As she goes inside Mason speeds off.  When she gets in Christion is sleep with the videogame controller in his hands, as expected.  He’s never suspicious of anything because this has become her new evening jog routine.  Also as usual, she slips into the shower to wash Mason’s scent off of her.  If only she could wash him off her that easily.

Chapter 9

Animalistic.  This intense magnetic chemistry between Nova and Mason is becoming harder to control.  One Friday afternoon when Mason meets up with Christion at his place on their lunch breaks, they decide to play a quick game of 2k.  Nova has the day off and is in the kitchen cooking brunch.  When Christion goes to the bathroom, Mason sneaks into the kitchen.  Nova shakes her head as a smile appears, knowing that trouble is near.  He dances up on her from behind, wrapping his arms around her waist.

            Nova whispers, “Mason stop.”

He quickly makes it back over to the couch with the playstation controller in hand, just before Christion comes out of the bathroom.  In a few minutes Christion is back off to work.  Running late, he leaves as Mason heads to the bathroom.  When he pulls off, Nova heads to the bathroom and Mason pulls her inside where they have a quick passionate moment of pleasure.  Shortly after, she heads into her bedroom shutting the door behind her, just in time as Christion rushes back in to grab his wallet.  Just then Mason walks out of the bathroom, heading out the door right behind Christion.

Chapter 10

Mason couldn’t get enough of their secret affair.  Nova is the scratch to his itch, but after their last encounter she finally gained the strength to cut him off.  That time had been an uncomfortable close call.  This insane desire inside her needed to be tamed.  She had gotten her fix and left him behind.  He isn’t handling it too well, going through withdrawal.  She is his drug and it’s driving him crazy being denied.  He didn’t believe her when she warned him previously of the type of effect she can have.  Now that she’s been ignoring him the past few weeks, he finds himself acting outside of his character; riding past her home at night hoping to find her waiting for him.  But she wasn’t there.  He found himself at her apartment more often with Christion, blowing Nova kisses behind his back.  The more she ignores him, rejecting him, the more annoyed he gets.  He’s used to being the one in control.  Who the hell does she think she is?  He decides that she needs to see just who really has the power, him.

Chapter 11

A dose of her own medicine; that’s what Nova is getting.  It’s always easier to dish it than it is to take it.  Nova was learning this the hard way.  She had a bad habit of having to learn the hard way sometimes.  Mason stops looking for her, stops coming over; disappears, and at first she thinks it’s a good thing.  After a few days, then weeks, then a month of nothing, Nova is definitely feeling some way and not a good one.  She misses him.  She wanted to forget about him so bad.  She wanted to not want him, but she needed him to need her.  Nova hated to be ignored.  It is one of the worst things that someone can do to her.  It does something to her, makes another side of her come out; a darker side.

Since he had blocked her on Facebook, she makes a fake account sending a friend request.  He accepts it and it’s on, immediately she stalks his page seeing a conversation between him and his cousin Ryan about plans for the night.  Checking the time on her phone it reads eleven o’clock.  Christion heads to bed as she gets in the shower.  She lies telling him that she’s taking his car and heading to the gym.  Fading into sleep he says okay as the front door closes.

In the car she changes her clothes.  Putting on a tight short skirt, teal spaghetti strap tank, black stilettos and big gold hoops.  Her blonde bang sweeps across her forehead, with her black full hair falling down onto her shoulders.  Looking into the visor mirror she applies black eyeliner, mascara and lipstick.  Then she speeds over to Ryan’s place; Mason had taken her there a time or two before.  Who knew that one day she would need to recall the location? Surprisingly she makes it to Ryan’s place.  She gets out and heads to the door.  Enraged with raw emotions, she takes a minute to gather herself just as someone opens the door heading out.

Stepping inside she bumps into Ryan, “Is Mason here?” She yells over the loud music.  He points her toward the living room as she strolls in that direction.  Strippers twerk on the floor, on the wall, on the pole in the middle of the room, and on the laps of greedy lust filled men.  Suddenly connecting eyes with Mason, she reaches behind her back pulling out Christion’s pistol from the waist of her denim skirt.  She had taken it from his car.  Slowly Mason stands up; walking toward Nova he blows thick white smoke between his full wet lips, placing the muzzle of the gun right up against his chiseled bare chest.  Nova doesn’t flinch and neither does he.  They stare intensely into each other’s eyes as everyone else clears out of the room.

“Mason you good?”  Ryan asks.

Mason, not speaking, frowns his eyebrows shaking his head yes, never taking his eyes away from Nova’s.  Suddenly he palms her plump ass with both hands, then pulls her skirt up to find her pussy is free.  Her arms give in, lowering the gun to her side.  Roughly he pulls her up against him as he sits back down on the couch, Nova straddled on top.  Desperately she unzips his pants, hurrying to get him inside of her.  She needed him as much as he needed her.  Circling his tongue on his favorite swollen nipples, he softly moans as she squeezes her pussy in rhythm with her strides.

Finally speaking he asks her, “What took you so long?”

“I hate you.”  She pouts.

“Show me how much.”  He always knew the right things to say, and when to say them, to drive her wild.  She orgasms so hard that her whole body shakes.  Swiftly laying her onto her back, he snatches her shoes off placing her pedicured toes onto his chest and takes full control, once again.

Chapter 12

After five months of sneaking behind Christion’s back cheating with his best friend Mason, Nova finally is overcome with guilt.  She comes home early from work one afternoon, deciding that she’d cook his favorite meal, tonight would be the night that she confesses and prays that he forgives her.  Walking into the dining room she places her keys and purse onto the table, when she thinks she hears a slight noise.  Maybe she hadn’t noticed Christion’s car out front, she thinks.  Heading down the hall to their bedroom, she notices the sound more; heavy breathing, bed squeaking.  Her heart pounds through her chest as her stomach drops.  No, it couldn’t be.  She reaches the door, which is already slightly open.  Opening it wide she can’t believe her eyes.  Standing there in a daze she barely breathes.  Christion throws his ex Athena off of him, and grabs his basketball shorts off the floor.  His mouth is moving but Nova is checked out.  Her body moves on autopilot as she rushes to the closet, that same closet where she had been comforted briefly escaping    her loneliness.  Not only had Christion abandoned her emotionally, but he was also cheating.  She wonders what had she been waiting for all this time? It was never going to happen.  Why had she been beating herself up?  He deserved it.  Sorry, not sorry.  She no longer regretted anything.

Christion pulls on her arm, his lips still moving but she doesn’t hear a sound.  Nova packs her purple leopard suitcase and a small black duffel bag.  Storming out the front door, she leaves her keys behind along with the man that she once thought was the love of her life, and all of his broken promises.

Walking four blocks to Mason’s place, she pulls her luggage, carrying the bag over her shoulder.  By the time she arrives at Mason’s, her face is saturated.  He carries her stuff inside for her.

“Did you know?” She searches his eyes for answers.  Mason gently kisses her lips wrapping her in his arms as she breaks down.

“I promise I got you.”  He scoops her up carrying her to his bed, where he takes his time pleasing her.  He would try to eat her pain away until she begs him to stop.

When they wake in the morning, Nova watches Mason as he sleeps, outlining his profile with her eyes.  She feels like she has just learned a tough lesson; that just when it felt like she was dying, she was actually being reborn.  Birth always seemed to be scary, not knowing what lie ahead as your world, as you know it, comes to an end.

She whispers, “Can I stay?”  Mason opens his eyes, but doesn’t respond as Nova clings to him like a lost puppy.

“Can I stay, please?”  She repeats herself, a tear races down her face.

“Nova you know the situation, I don’t want your heart.  I told you that a long time ago.  I’m not a good dude and I don’t want to hurt you.  Haven’t you been through enough?”

Her chest hurts as she bites her lip to hold back the tears.  He was right.  She knew what she was getting into.  She played with the fire getting burned. All she could do now is nurse her own wounds, and walk away with her head held high, dignity intact, and pride still strong.

“You’re right. No worries.  It’s not a big deal.”  She could lie to him but not to herself.  She had hoped that things would go differently but how could she continue to be so selfish?  How could she possibly expect things to end in her favor?  She doesn’t feel very deserving of happiness.  After showering she calls her job to quit and then an Uber.

“Where will you go?”

“I’m going to catch a train back to Chicago.  There’s nothing left for me here.”  He pulls her close to him but she pushes him away.

He insists, “You know that I care about you.  I’ll always have your back, but I just can’t do that to you.”

“You don’t have to explain, I understand.  I’ll be in touch, don’t worry.”  She forces a smirk across her face to cover the disappointment in her eyes.  “There’s my Uber. I have to go.”

Mason pulls her in again one last time.  His big hands grasp her soft face wiping tears with his thumbs.  They kiss, time standing still as they float in a place outside of time.  Mason opens his eyes just in time to see Nova’s shadow walk out of his life; this unexpected goddess that he never thought would actually touch him, physically or emotionally.

Chapter 13

The end of one chapter leads to the beginning of a new chapter.  Nova keeps to herself on the train ride from upstate New York to Chicago.  She remembered the day that she left everything she had ever known, to be with this handsome man she had met online.  After a year of dating long distance she took a leap of faith, in hope that he’d be the one.  Those days were over as she headed back to what she knows.  Different emotions consume her as she thinks about everything that she has been through in these past 4 years; lost love and lost lovers.

The train pulls into Nova’s stop.  She steps off and onto the platform, carrying her bag over her shoulder along with the rest of the weight of the universe.  Walking through the crowd, she wonders where life will take her next. Strangers past by with Nova not even feeling present in this moment.  She had left so much behind her as she looked forward to landing her feet on solid ground again.

A strong gust of wind blows causing goosebumps to form on her arms, then a faint scent seduces her nostrils.  It started with the cool breeze, then the musky smell, then those tan Timberland boots.  Her mind must be getting ahead of itself she thinks.  Then it’s those light blue Tru Religion jeans and that black LRG hoodie.  By the time she raises her head to see his face. She’s already in his arms.  Although Mason didn’t want her heart, he hadn’t anticipated that she’d end up winning his.  He caught a flight to get there before her and although he doesn’t know how things are going to work out, he couldn’t let the best thing to walk into his life, just walk right out of it.  She is his beautiful super Nova, outshining galaxies of other women.  He was drawn into her heavenly illumination, with no desire of ever letting her go.

     OPTIONAL EXTENDED ALTERNATE ENDING

Chapter 14

Christion wondered where Nova could be when she didn’t return home the next day and furthermore how she could just ignore him without hearing him out.  He felt that they just needed to talk things over.  As he sits in the bar downing his second Corona, suddenly he recalls something.  A while back he had synced a location app on their phones as a joke.  Hoping that she hasn’t deleted the app from her phone, he opens it and can’t believe his eyes.  Nova was back in downtown Chicago, 22 W. Monroe St. at the Hampton Inn to be exact.  Deciding to drive there tonight he calls Mason for the fifth time today to see if he wanted to roll with him, but once again it goes straight to voicemail.  It wasn’t like them to go this long without being in touch, it had been two weeks.  After swinging home to grab a few items, Christion stops by Mason’s apartment and when no one answer he enters using the spare key.
“Yo Mason you here man?”  He walks around from room to room but it’s empty.  Just as he heads back to the front door, he notices a familiar necklace on the coffee table.  It was odd because it looked exactly like the one he bought Nova last year for their anniversary.  He grabs it then rushes back to his car, even more determined to figure out where Mason is, why Nova won’t even give him a chance to apologize, and what the hell her necklace was doing at Mason's place.  He prayed to God that Mason wasn’t with Nova or he just might have to beat his ass.

Chapter 15

Nova could get used to this spoiling thing.  Mason treats her to room service, full body massages, waiting on her hand and foot all night and into the next morning.  He is determined to keep her in good spirits even though she still feels undeserving of so much, but it was Christion’s loss as far as he was concerned. After they have a full breakfast Mason gives Nova another back massage with baby oil and all.  Anytime he could have his hands on her was a good time to him.  He squeezes her side causing her to jump accidentally answering a call on her phone. Quickly rolling over she touches Mason’s lips with her index finger signaling him to be quiet.
“Hello?”
“Nova?” Christion responds in a surprised tone just above a whisper.
“Yes, what do you want Christion? We’re done, there’s nothing to talk about.
“Ok I deserve this, but I’m really sorry Nova.  You’re not going to make me beg are you?”
Irritated Nova’s tone quickly becomes defensive, “Are you kidding me?  First of all begging isn’t even enough to make up for what you’ve put me through.  Second of all,” just then Mason becoming tired of waiting gently bites on Nova’s inner thigh making her laugh uncontrollably as he grabs the phone hanging it up.  Rolling onto her back, she stops laughing long enough to mumble, “How rude.”
In between kisses on her lower lips Mason speaks, “First of all,” he kisses two times then lifts his head again continuing, “Begging won’t even be enough to get me to stop.”  He kisses her three more times before continuing, “Second of all,” just then she pounds him with a super soft fluffy pillow.  Jumping up he grabs a pillow firing back as Nova jumps off the bed fully naked.  They run around the room in full on pillow fight mode, until Mason tosses his pillow onto the bed raising his hands in the air.
“I surrender.”
“Yeah right, I don’t trust you.” Nova says hesitantly.
“Nah for real, I quit.  Come here I want to show you something.”
Side eyeing him she approaches cautiously, pillow still in hand. Holding his arms out he pull her in, she asks “What do you want to show me?”
He sits her on the bed then instantly pushes her head into his crotch yelling “ Deez Nuts!”  Nova pushes him as they laugh.  He falls onto the bed laughing so hard that he can barely get the words out, “Got him!”
Nova tugs on his shorts, “Why do you still have these on?”
“Because you haven’t said the magic word yet.”
“Now.” Nova gives the command and his clothes instantly come off.
Body to body they taste the flavors of each other’s existence.  First simultaneously, then at the same time.  Sixty-nine has always been one of his favorite positions, along with all the other ones.  Bringing each other close to climax, Nova sits up sliding down and onto his massive package, riding reverse cowgirl style.  Mason palms her ass as he tries to maintain his composure.  It was always so hard with her, like she had a magical fairy, Sookie from Trueblood, kind of pussy.  The room heats up as their passion rises.  Unable to resist any longer he holds her up by her back pounding her onto him harder and harder, forcing Nova to moan louder and louder as he hits her sweet spot.  Beads of sweat form in the center of her back as well as between her breasts.  Mason always manages to lose himself inside of Nova’s abyss.  It feels so right that it could never be wrong. She had made herself at home right where he never knew he needed her most, deep in his heart.
Nova pants, “I’m about to cum,” and as she gets the words out they exploded together.  Her adrenaline is so high that Nova doesn’t even realize that Mason has his teeth sunk into her shoulder.  They both collapse fading out for five minutes straight.
Nova lifts her head asking, “You ready for round two?”
“I’m gonna need an intermission and some more condoms. I’m out of commission right now.”  They laugh.
They shower together before heading down through the lobby and out to the rental car, in search for a gas station.
“Well Miss Lady this is your city so I’m gonna need you to be my tour guide.”  Nova smiles as he leans her against the car kissing her.
Nova opens her eyes just in time to see a hooded figure punch Mason from behind.  Mason swings around grabbing Christion slamming him onto the ground.  Nova screams trying to pull them apart as they tussle.
Christion breaks free backing up and yelling, “What the fuck?”  He looks at the both of them, searching their eyes for an explanation.
Mason responds, "You wasn’t treating her right, so I showed her how a real man do it.”
Christion swings at Mason hastily but Mason dodges it catching him with an uppercut.  Then Christion lands a right, then a left hook.  People start to come outside, pointing and whispering, pulling their phones out recording.
Nova yells at the guys, “Stop! Please just stop.”
Christion grunts between swings, “I’m not going nowhere, you gonna have to kill me.”  He and Mason latch onto each other pushing back and forth until Mason uses all of his strength pushing Christion off of him, right into oncoming traffic.  The cars quickly swerve as Christion hobbles out of the street bent over.
Nova runs to him in a panic, “Christion are you ok? Did you get hit?”
He shakes his head no, as he grabs his chest and throat signaling that he was having an asthma attack.
“Where’s your pump?” She runs to his car searching through it, but gets out just before Mason throws a brick through the windshield just as the police and ambulance pull up.
Things had gotten way out of control so quickly.  Now Mason was about to be arrested as Christion climbed into an ambulance.  Nova stood there confused, her heart torn in half.  Who was she supposed to support?  She felt like she was drowning right there where she stood.  The ground was slipping right up from underneath her.  Was she supposed to trust her mind or follow her heart?

Chapter 16

Growth. In such a short time Nova had been transformed.  Christion might be what her heart wants at the moment but her mind knows that Mason is what she needs.  He had shown her a passion that was exactly what she was missing in her life.  She rushes over to Mason’s side as he is handcuffed.
“I can’t believe this is happening right now. I’m so sorry baby.” She says in disbelief.
She kisses him as the other officer pries her off of him.  Grabbing the keys off the ground she hops into his rental.  As she shuts the door she makes eye contact with Christion; his cold grimacing stare cutting through her.  Pushing through the pain she follows close behind the police car.  She had been fooled twice by Christion, it would never happen again; not as long as she had breath in her lungs. That was final.
Tears stream down her cheeks as she trails behind her new man, overwhelmed with feelings of how much she used to love Christion, as well as how much of herself she had lost in loving him.  She was so grateful for Mason reminding her of her worth again.  The space in her heart where Christion resided was shrinking as the space for Mason expanded.  It was such an unfamiliar experience to cry sad and happy tears at the same time.  She was anxious of her future with Mason and whether or not he would simply be the next guy to let her down, but also excited about finally gaining the courage to leave Christion behind physically as well as emotionally.  She could feel herself getting stronger by the minute; her heart healing.
Before going into the police station she reaches under the dashboard grabbing a black bag, duct taped to it, filled with cash. Then headed inside to claim what belonged to her.

Chapter 17

“We’ll just write that off as foreplay,” Mason jokes as they pull up back to the hotel hours later.
Nova laughs, “Seeing you fight for me like that kind of turned me on.”  They ride in the elevator to the eighth floor.
“I bet it did.”  He smiles.
Opening the room door he pulls Nova inside, “Get your ass in here.”  He throws the condoms that he got from the gas station on the way back, all over the bed like confetti.
They laugh laying onto the bed. He kisses her forehead, her cheeks, chin, and then her lips. Kissing passionately, they get lost in one another.  There was something different about this kiss. Mason stops.
“What are you doing to me?” He asks.
“Nothing you don’t want me to do.”  Nova answers slyly.
“I like it when you talk my shit to me.” His tongue slides across his lips.  He continues, “Why your pussy gotta be so damn good? I think I’m in love with it.”
“Umm no, that’s called pussy whipped.”  She teases.
He smiles. She was the only person who could even joke with him like that.  He takes her clothes off slowly.
“Honestly, I thought you was gonna go with him earlier, being that you have history and all,”
“I surprised myself too.  Maybe I’m dick whipped.” She smiles.
“Oh you definitely dick whipped. This dick got you mesmerized.”
She takes his clothes off, getting right to massaging his erection.  Grabbing ice from her fountain drink, she puts it in her mouth as she gets on her knees placing him into her warm mouth.  Mason stands there with his rock solid body, lighting his blunt then placing one hand gently on her head.  He takes a few pulls as he puts his head back, a natural reaction to the pleasure that her icy tongue delivers. Then he stands her up handing her the blunt.  She takes three long pulls then puts it out on a bottle cap, laying it on the nightstand.  He tosses her onto the bed, hungrily eating her from behind before he enters into her sweetness.  Ass up, face down; he had something to prove.  Nova threw it back at him proving herself as well.  Yanking her hair, he loved seeing her arch her back when he was deep inside of her.  They grind up against each other.
Mason needed her in ways that he didn’t even understand.  As much as he loved watching her from behind, he wanted to look into her eyes as he came this time.  What the fuck was wrong with him? It wasn’t like him to have these types of desires.  He tries to fight it but is weakened when he lets her hair go and she looks back at him.  Swiftly he backs up flipping her over, sliding down and reentering the wet softness.  He just lays there sucking on her breast.  He was actually a little scared; he had never been in love before.  Players played, they didn’t get played.  He slides in deeper as he moves up slowly kissing her lovingly.  Accelerating with each thrust, he knows that this is it.  He was all the way invested in Nova, as she was with him as well.  It felt like magic.  He thrusts harder as she locks her ankles together on his back.  Mason lifts his eyes to Nova’s as they stare deep into each other’s souls.  Locked in to each other’s trance, he melts into her.
“I love you.” Mason can’t believe that he said it first. He was officially a pussy now.
“I love you too.”  Hearing it back from her made it all worthwhile.
So that’s what love feels like he thought.  It was like nothing he had ever felt before.  They had been through so much in such a short period of time and he looked forward to whatever else life had in store, as long as he had her by his side.  They had made a mess of things in their coming together, but a love so passionately deep sometimes causes a collision in the impact of two hearts becoming one.

**************THE STORY ENDS HERE FOR YOU**************

            Chapter 18

Honesty is always key. If Nova couldn’t be real with herself then how could she be real with anyone else?  She does have feelings for Mason but nothing in comparison to her love for Christion.  She hurries and climbs into the ambulance with Christion, holding on tightly to his hand.  She looks up just in time to connect eyes with Mason as he is being handcuffed. Then the doors close and they drive off heading to the hospital.  She did feel bad for not being able to be there for Mason after all that they have been through, but she is unapologetic for following her heart.  He would just have to understand.
As the paramedic adjusts Christion’s oxygen mask he stares into Nova’s eyes.  Both of their eyes fill with tears.  He pulls her hand to his lips gently kissing it.
She smiles asking him, “Are you okay now?”
He nods, “With you back by my side I am.”
Moving on this time has managed to be much harder than times in the past.  Nova usually is able to walk away without ever looking back.  Why should this time be any different?  But how many times is she going to keep running when things get tough?  She could feel her biological clock ticking; counting down the time she had left to become a mother after becoming a wife.  Being rooted in one place was becoming more and more important to her.  Although her mind is telling her to run, her heart clings desperately to Christion.  She couldn’t possibly just turn her love for him off, but Mason did make her feel like a priority.  She’d be a fool to walk away from that, but a fool in love indeed.  Not completely sure if she had made the right decision between the two, one thing was for sure, she could no longer continue this cycle of running through lovers.  Nova hated Christion coming after her.  Why did it take her leaving for him to step it up?  How could she even put her trust in him again?  All of these troubling thoughts flood her mind.
At the hospital Christian’s vitals are checked, he is given a prescription for an asthma pump and then they leave.  Sitting in the lobby waiting for an Uber, Christion sees this as his golden opportunity.  Although he was initially hurt and upset at whatever she and Mason called themselves doing, he knows that he is equally at fault for cheating with his ex numerous times.  In his eyes it balanced itself out.  Digging into his right pocket he pulls out Nova’s necklace that he found at Mason’s home, placing it back in its rightful place.
“I think that we lost something, but we found it again.” He says as he clasps it.
Reaching into his other pocket suddenly panic comes over him.  Just then Nova reaches into her purse pulling out a small red velvet pouch.
Smiling she says, “Yeah you dropped something, but I picked it up and held onto it for you.” She hands him the pouch.  A handsome smile spreads across his face.  That smile that she fell in love with almost three years ago.
“Nova I know I messed up.  I didn’t take care of your heart properly.  Truth be told, I don’t even deserve you.  My deepest apology could never make up for it, but I hope that you can find it in your heart to forgive me and give me one more chance.  I promise to be a better man.  If you’re willing then I’m more than willing to fight for us, now and forever.” Pulling out a beautiful diamond ring from the pouch he gets down on one of his sore knees and asks Nova, “Will you marry me?”
Even though she had already felt the ring in the pouch when she picked it up during the scuffle, she was still surprised to hear those words come from his mouth. She had waited so long. She couldn’t help but be in a daze wondering if this was really happening.
Christion had always been afraid of falling so deep.  He ran from it with Athena and distanced himself from it with Nova.  After things went completely south with Nova he beat himself up.  How long was he going to continue to be a punk?  It was time for him to grow up.  Yes they have their differences, no he isn’t the most romantic and no she isn’t the most submissive, but he had found love in her and no one else would compare.  Nova was the one for him and he just knew because never had he been so afraid to lose someone.  Never had he had a woman walk away from him before.  No other woman had ever moved him the way she did.  When Mason pushed him into the street it opened his eyes. Life is too short, and here he was letting his happiness slip from his grasp.  Nova didn’t complete him, she was made for him.  God knew what he needed to force him to become the man he is supposed to be.  Their love is real.  He had forgotten that in the midst of his own fears; he had buried those feelings, tucked them away as he went through the motions of life.  Not realizing that it is her love that is the key to the meaning of his life.  Life without her could never compare; she is the melody of his favorite song.
“Yes! Yes! Yes!” Nova exclaims in pure excitement, and just like that forgiveness gives way to the flood of love again.

            Chapter 19
(6 months later)

Nova walks down the aisle to the song “Why I Love You” by Major.  When she reaches the altar, just before everyone is seated, Christion reaches over rubbing her belly, and then kneels down kissing it.  Their families and friends applaud ecstatically, understanding this as a sign that they are expecting.
If she hadn’t learned anything else from this crazy experience she did learn one thing, that when we are in the middle of a storm all we can see is the turmoil, but when the dust clears once in a while we gain the clarity to understand why things had to happen the way they did.  Now she understood that a love so passionately deep sometimes causes a collision in the impact of two hearts becoming one.

"Stabbed in the Back" ~ Idiom definitions

"It's just a figure of speech!" id·i·om /ˈidēəm/ Noun: A group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words (e.g., raining cats and dogs). A form of expression natural to a language, person, or group of people: "he had a feeling for phrase and idiom". It's funny the way that we often learn things in language and communication, without realizing what it is that we actually learned. Idioms have become so common that even kids understand the meanings of many of them. Idioms assist in the flow of figurative language, but can often be lost in translation; meaning that others who didn't grow up in that culture might not be able to connect the dots. Below I have listed a few. Feel free to join in with others that you may know. "to throw a monkey wrench in the plans" "you put your foot in it" (referring to cooking) "you put your foot into

To Whom It May Concern:

In case you haven't heard these words in a while, if ever, I just want you to know that you do have worth. Don't ever let anyone lead you to believe otherwise. Each day is another chance to do a little more, a little better than the day before. I know sometimes circumstances seem to suck the life right out of you, but just know that you're not alone; it happens to the best of us. But pick yourself up and dust yourself off. You've come way too far to give up now. The world needs you, it just won't be quite the same without you. The storm only lasts so long. Just know that the sun will come out again, and you will smile thankfully. So never feel that you are all alone or unworthy again. There is only one you is this world, so that makes you extremely rare. In case no one told you lately, you matter and I care. Sincerely, Me
